ANTIQUE FRENCH COPPER PAN, HANGING CAULDRON, PLANTER, HANGING BASKET, RUSTED IRON HANDLE, CRAMP SEAM, COPPER RIVET, 24cm tall 26cm diameter 2.7kg - 1900s

Selling our collections (hoards) of mostly French vintage items that have been acquired over many years until finally we have no room for more!
Part of our French copper collection, we got this from a brocante at Reims in the Champagne region and have used it as a hanging planter.
It’s a substantial hanging cauldron with a rusted forged iron handle and cramp seams dating to the early 1900s (A cramp seam is the join of the sheets of copper where it is sort of dovetailed together).
Now very worn but with an attractive patina and verdigris staining, it makes an unusual planter, fireside display piece, a great addition to a vintage French copper collection or decorative piece of French kitchenalia…
In worn but sound antique condition with wear, rust to the handle and staining - please examine photographs carefully for condition.
This has just had a wash, I’m sure it could polish up nicely if required.
The copper surfaces are in sound condition with some wear, staining, knocks and scratches - see photos.
The interior is worn and stained but sound - see photos.
NOTE: The iron handle is very rusted with corrosion at the brackets and joints but still sound - see photos.
NOTE: The rusted handle brackets have copper riveted joints with no looseness or movement and are strong enough to hang the pan by - see photos.
The bottom is worn with a solder repaired hole by the looks of it - see photos.
I have filled this with water and it appears to be watertight.
There is a cramp seam visible to the base.
I can find no maker’s mark.
Measures approximately:
26 cm diameter,
31 cm long bracket to bracket,
24 cm tall to the pan edge,
weighs about 2.7 kg.
