Description
This is an antique framed map of Northamptonshire.
This map was created by Robert Morden - 17th century British bookseller, publisher, and maker of maps and globes. He was one of the first successful commercial map makers.
This map was first published in Gibson's edition of Camden's Britannia in 1695. Originally published in black and white the map has later been hand coloured.
This engraving was restruck three times throughout the 18th century(1722, 1753 and 1772). The later 1722 edition can be identified by a watermark of a horse within a circle.
The frame comes from the 20th century. It is glazed, ready to hang, and measures 19 1/2” tall, 17 3/8” wide, and 1/2” deep (49.5cm x 44.2cm x 1.5cm). The map measures 16” x 18 1/8” (40.5cm x 46cm).

The map presents very well. The frame is sturdy and bears minimal wear. Provided photos accurately present the current condition. This is a genuine antique item, hence signs of history should be anticipated.
