Description

Senior Operations and Governance Officer

Location: London

Duration: Initially temporary for 3-5 months, with a view to going Permanent for the right person.

Pay: GBP20.60 per hour plus GBP3.00 per hour holiday pay (equivalent to GBP37,500 FTE per annum)

Hours of work: 9 AM - 5 PM, 35 hours per week

Hybrid: 2 days per week in the office (Tuesdays and Thursdays)

Charity People are delighted to be partnering with a mission-driven charity committed to justice, equity, and inclusion by supporting impactful programmes and strategic initiatives that drive meaningful change. They are looking to recruit a Senior Operations and Governance Officer to support the Operations Manager in delivering high-quality governance and programme management across the organisation.

About the Role

This is a pivotal role supporting the Chair, Trustees, and Senior Management Team to ensure effective governance and operational oversight. You'll coordinate Trustee meetings, maintain governance records, and support programme and project management across the organisation. You will also work with colleagues across the organisation to put in place systems and reporting to track progress against plans and associated risks.

Key Responsibilities

Arrange and coordinate the annual cycle of Trustee and Committee meetings Prepare agendas, take accurate minutes, and ensure timely dissemination of papers Maintain governance documentation including the risk register and register of interests Develop and implement systems for tracking progress against strategic plans and KPIs Support project leads in planning, monitoring, and reporting on outcomes Assist in drafting the Annual Report and Accounts Ensure Trustee and other details are up to date and comply with the requirements of the Charity Commission and Companies House. Maintain the Seal Book, ensuring that the Seal is used where required to execute documents and maintain relevant registers of interests, gifts and hospitality. Be responsible for maintaining and updating the Trustees Register of Interests. Be responsible for the general administration for the Trustees including processing Trustee expenses and managing the Secretary's inbox and being the first port of call for any queries. Support the Chair with the Trustee Annual review process. Support the Governance review processes and ensure actions are followed up and completed. Support project leads to plan, implement and monitor project progress and outcomes Support the Senior Management Team to develop an annual delivery plan and monitor progress against a set of key performance indicators. Support the Director of Operations to identify, assess and manage risks across the organisation. Lead on ad hoc organisational wide projects where required including the All Staff Conference, Trustee dinners and other events.

We're looking for a proactive and detail-oriented individual with:

Significant experience supporting Boards and Committees Strong minute-taking and action-tracking skills Experience in project coordination and performance monitoring Excellent communication and relationship-building abilities Proficiency in Office 365 and CRM systems (e.g. Salesforce) A commitment to equity, inclusion, and collaborative working
