About the Role

One of my local government clients is seeking an experienced Housing Options Officers to join our Housing Solutions team. This is a fantastic opportunity to make a direct impact in supporting some of the most vulnerable residents in our community.

You will play a key role in the delivery of homelessness prevention services, applying your detailed knowledge of the Housing Act 1996 (Parts VI & VII) and the Homelessness Reduction Act 2017 to manage a varied and often complex caseload.

Key Responsibilities

*

Carry out assessments under the Homelessness Reduction Act 2017, including drafting robust Personalised Housing Plans (PHPs).

*

Determine prevention and relief duties, ensuring accurate interpretation of housing legislation.

*

Manage a varied caseload including individuals and families with complex needs or a history of rough sleeping.

*

Maintain a prevention-focused approach, working collaboratively with internal teams and external partners.

*

Prepare and present decision letters and case files in accordance with legal obligations.

Essential Experience & Knowledge

*

Proven experience in a Housing Options/Homelessness Officer role within a local authority.

*

In-depth understanding of the Housing Act 1996 (Parts VI & VII).

*

Experience applying the Homelessness Reduction Act 2017 in a statutory setting.

*

Ability to assess complex cases, draft decision letters, and formulate effective PHPs.

*

Strong communication and case management skills.
