Description

Murray Recruitment are recruiting an Accountant for our client based in Lanarkshire. This is a fantastic opportunity to join a well-established organisation in a key financial role, ensuring accurate reporting and compliance while supporting the wider finance team.

Role Overview

The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining financial records, preparing key reports, and managing essential accounting processes. This role requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to meet strict deadlines while collaborating with various departments.

Key Responsibilities

* Support the finance department in preparing monthly and annual financial statements.

* Maintain and reconcile nominal ledgers, accounts payable, and accounts receivable.

* Oversee the processing of invoices and payments to suppliers and subcontractors within strict deadlines.

* Reconcile monthly and quarterly VAT returns and provide reports for HMRC submission.

* Confirm CIS reconciliation to the nominal ledger and liaise with the finance department for HMRC submissions.

* Provide key financial data and reports to the finance department on a monthly basis.

* Prepare and post journals to ensure accurate reporting within the nominal ledger and job costing.

* Process and reconcile prepayments, accruals, and depreciation of fixed assets.

* Maintain and update the fixed asset register.

* Assist with purchase ledger tasks as required to meet deadlines.

* Support the finance department with budgeting and forecasting activities.

* Work collaboratively with other departments to improve financial reporting and operational efficiency.

* Supervise and review the workload of the accounts department.

Skills & Experience Required

* Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel.

* Minimum of 2 years’ accounting experience, ideally within the construction industry or a similar sector.

* Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret financial data.

* Experience with month-end and year-end financial processes.

* Excellent communication skills, with the ability to interact at all levels.

* Knowledge of the CIS scheme is advantageous.

* Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise tasks and meet deadlines.

* Self-motivated, proactive, and able to work independently as well as within a team.

* High attention to detail and accuracy.

* Due to location, own transport is required.

What’s on Offer

* Salary: Up to £35,000 per annum (DOE).

* Working hours: Monday to Thursday, 8:00am – 5:00pm, Friday 8:00am – 2:30pm.
