Description
Up for sale, I have a Cavagnolo, which is made in France. It is a 4 row, C system chromatic accordion. Year of manufacture, Cica, 1970’s.
It has 4 sets of reeds (LMMM), in the treble, 55 notes, ranging from, (clarinet) C2 to G7, covering a range of just under 5 octaves.
It has 5 levers behind the treble keyboard, each lever is double acting. This makes available 9 combinations of reed configurations, starting from the top:
No 1 up (MMM), down (LMMM),
No2 up (M), down (LM),
No3 up and down (L),
No 4 up (MMM), down (LMMM),
No 5 up (M), down (LM)
It has 5 sets of reeds and 3 couplers, in the bass.
The couplers are:
Starting from the bottom, High reeds, Master, and Low reeds.
The bass buttons board is stepped and are the mushroom type.
This is a 3 + 3 bass system. It has tree rows of bass notes,
Fundamental, counter bass and minor bass rows.
The chords are,
Major, minor and 7ths.
The 7ths double up as diminished chords.
This accordion is in excellent working order.
It weighs 11.7kg, 25.6lbs.
Both the treble and bass have been re tuned A= 446 Hz.
NOTE,
446Hz, IS WHAT IT WOULD HAVE BEEN ORIGINALY TUNED TO, IN THE FACTORY.
UK STANDARD PITCH IS SET AT 440Hz, SO THERE WILL BE NOTICBLE DIFFERENT IN PITCH, WHEN PLAYING WITH AN INSTRUMENT TUNED AT 440Hz.
The three clarinet reeds in the treble, have been musette tuned. A4= + and – 9cents.
It has been serviced with adjustments, replacements and cosmetic touches made where required.
The compression is excellent.
The accordion comes with shoulder straps, original bass strap and want looks like its original fiber case.
The case had been lined with foam rubber but has been partially removed.
I have kept the price of all my accordions to the absolute minimum. Accordions, by nature, are very complex and have an extraordinary number of moving parts (the bigger they are, the more work is involved) and therefore consume a vast amount of time in an overhaul to bring them up to a high standard of playability. Please bear this in mind when you consider buying one.
