The BMW door unlock button is typically located on the centre console near the gear selector or on the driver’s side door panel. In most modern BMW models, such as the 3 Series or 5 Series, you’ll find a small button marked with an unlock symbol (an open padlock icon) integrated into the interior door handle or dashboard. Some models, like the BMW iX, also allow keyless entry via the Comfort Access system—simply touch the door handle with the key fob nearby.

For older BMWs without keyless entry, the unlock button is usually on the remote key fob. Pressing it once unlocks the driver’s door; pressing twice unlocks all doors. If you’re inside the car and need to unlock the doors manually, check the centre console or door panel for the button.

If you can’t locate it, consult your owner’s manual—BMW’s layout varies slightly by model and year. For example, the BMW X5 places the button near the iDrive controller, while the 1 Series might have it on the door card.

The BMW door unlock button is located on the car's control panel, positioned between the two air vents.

Some cars feature an automatic locking function, where the doors automatically lock when the car key is away from the vehicle for 5 minutes, ensuring the safety of items inside. When the car's speed exceeds 20 kilometers per hour, the doors automatically lock to prevent accidental opening while driving, which could be dangerous.

Most models also come with a remote window control feature, allowing you to press and hold the lock or unlock button on the car key to automatically raise or lower the windows, greatly enhancing convenience in daily car use.
