The pull down handle does not stay down. It suspect a spring may have jumped out but seeing as I don't even own a screwdriver I am just going to give away the toaster. The toaster works absolutely fine otherwise ie you can manually keep the lever down but to restore full functionality someone would have to take it apart and inspect and fix. There are probably even YouTube videos showing how to do that.
