A specialist school in Cheltenham is seeking a dedicated Special Needs Assistant to support pupils aged 4 to 19 with profound learning difficulties (PMLD). Many students also have additional physical, sensory, or communication needs, and require consistent, structured support throughout the school day.

About the Role

As a Special Needs Assistant, you will work closely with pupils who require a high level of individualised support. Your responsibilities will include:

Assisting pupils with profound and multiple learning difficultiesSupporting communication through specialist methods (training provided)Helping with sensory–based activities and structured routinesCreating a calm, safe and positive learning environmentWorking collaboratively with teachers, therapists and support staffWhat the School Is Looking For

Patient, reliable and compassionateComfortable supporting students with complex needsAble to follow routines and adapt to each student's individual needsEager to learn and develop within a specialist settingExperience with SEN, care work, PMLD, or supporting non–verbal children is an advantage but not essential. Graduates in Psychology, Sociology, Health & Social Care, Education or similar fields are encouraged to apply.
