Description

SEN Teaching Assistant (Secondary) – Behaviour Management

Location: HA6, Northwood, North West London

Contract Type: Full-Time, Term-Time Only

Start Date: ASAP

Are you an experienced SEN Teaching Assistant with strong behaviour management skills? Do you have the patience, confidence, and resilience to support secondary-aged pupils with additional learning and emotional needs?

Uniform Education is recruiting a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant for a secondary school in the HA6 area. The school supports students with a range of needs, including Autism (ASC), Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) challenges, and Moderate Learning Difficulties (MLD).

About the Role:

As a SEN Teaching Assistant, you will:

Provide targeted 1:1 and small-group support to pupils with SEN and behavioural needs

*

Use effective de-escalation and positive behaviour management strategies to maintain engagement and safety

*

Support pupils with learning, communication, and social skills development

*

Assist teachers in delivering differentiated lessons to meet a variety of learning needs

*

Encourage emotional regulation, confidence, and positive participation in class

*

Collaborate closely with teachers, SENCOs, and pastoral staff to monitor and support pupil progress

*

Contribute to creating a calm, structured, and inclusive classroom environment

What We’re Looking For:

*

Experience working with secondary-aged pupils with SEN and/or SEMH needs (essential)

*

Confident in behaviour management, de-escalation, and relationship-building techniques

*

Understanding of Autism, ADHD, or trauma-informed practice (desirable)

*

Patient, empathetic, and proactive approach to supporting challenging behaviour

*

Excellent teamwork and communication skills

*

Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to apply via Uniform Education)
