Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) Derby (DE11) 110– 130 per day Full Time Start Date: 12th January 2026 Secondary School

The Opportunity

Join Long Term Futures (LTF) in supporting a successful secondary school in Burton upon Trent (DE11) within a mainstream setting. We work with children aged 11–16, however the focus age groups are for years 10 and 11. We are seeking a dedicated Higher Teaching Learning Assistant to become part of our supportive team. At this school, our aim is to engage learners with education and help them reach their full potential.

Role Responsibilities:

Lead targeted interventions for individuals and small groups to support learning.Focus on one–to–one sessions with learners who need that extra support, mainly across GCSE maths and English subjects. Promote positive behaviour, focus, and engagement in lessons.Support learners with time outs and de–escalating techniques.Work closely with teachers, SEN staff, and the pastoral team to support student development.

What We're Looking For:

HLTA qualification or equivalent secondary school experience.Confident working with KS4 pupils.General subject knowledge, especially for GCSE maths and English. Strong classroom management and behaviour support skills.Flexible, resilient, and committed to helping every pupil succeed.A proactive team player with excellent communication skills.
