Description

I am a qualified Sports Massage and Soft Tissue Therapist based in the Lawn / Old town area of Swindon. (I am also licenced biomedical scientist specialising in tissue science so I have studied about the body from the inside as well as the outside).

Soft tissue therapy/sports massage is the scientific manipulation of the soft tissues of the body for therapeutic purposes such as resolving sports (and other every day) injuries and their prevention by the preparation of the body for athletic activity.

People who play sports professionally will be generally aware of the benefit soft tissue therapy, but many amateurs who play sports and suffer discomfort and injury whilst playing will be unaware of the benefits of this therapy to aid recovery from injury and the preparation of the body to minimise injury from sports activity in the future.

Equally, people suffer from body tissue injuries from work, DIY and other “everyday life” activities, the same soft tissue techniques can be used for treatment and rehabilitation.

In later life, as muscles become less supple and fibrous, regular soft tissue therapy can help with movement and comfort and prolong physical activity.
Sometimes symptoms such as back pain may turn out to be a referred pain from another part of the body.

The problem with say damaging a knee, for example, is that the body tries to compensate by altering the use of muscles around the ankle and hip joints and the whole leg can be affected, long after the initial injury is resolved.

There are large and small powerful muscles in the leg and lower back that can tighten, trap nerves and affect tendons and ligaments. Pain relief from the pills and gels that you see advertised on the telly can resolve some issues, i.e. pain but they don’t necessarily get down to the root cause of the problem. A combination of Soft Tissue Therapy and stretching exercises may be all that is required.

I offer a free half hour consultation as part of a 90 minutes session so the consultation does not reduce the treatment time needed for new clients in their first hour treatment session. The consultation is used to establish if soft tissue therapy is needed and if I can be of help.
A medical history will also be taken, but if you have any underlying conditions, please consult with your GP first to whether you can have any treatment or not.

Fees
1st (initial) session for new clients: £40 for 90 minutes session (includes 30 minute consultation)
£20 30 minutes session
£40 1 hour session

Discounts will also be available for multiple sessions.
£75 2x 1 hour sessions
£110 3 x 1 hour sessions

Discounted rates are only available if sessions are bought at one time.

When you arrive for treatment:

• When arriving for the session, please wear loose fitting tracksuit bottoms and bring a pair of shorts with you.
• For ladies, I would advise you to wear a normal bra and not a sports bra as it'll allow me to access your back easily.

Important Notice - For the avoidance of doubt, please note that this is a professional service not one of a sexual nature.
