Waking Night Carer in St Albans, AL4. Casual / Bank Contract is available for an experienced Waking Night Carer to assist a fabulous young lady with complex care and medical needs. £18.50 Gross Per Hour.

Salary/Wage: Weekdays £18.50 Gross Per Hour | Weekends £19.00 Gross Per Hour
Driving Requirements: No
Essential: Experienced Waking Night Carer. Confident supporting a client with complex needs including PEG feeding, manual handling and medication administration. Non-smoker/vaper. Good standard of spoken and written English. *Female applicants only.
Desirable: BiPAP, SATs monitoring, suctioning (training provided)
Start Date: ASAP
Days & Hours: Bank contract, every other weekend: Friday 10pm–8am or Saturday 10pm–8am. Additional bank hours for rota gaps (2 months’ notice). Weekday shifts: 10pm–7:30am

About this child/client: Hannah is a lovely young lady approaching her 21st birthday. She enjoys having her nails done, cinema trips, coffee dates and being outdoors. She has cerebral palsy, visual impairment, global developmental delay and epilepsy (well controlled). She is a full-time wheelchair user and requires full support for manual handling, personal care and double incontinence. She has a PEG for all feeds, fluids and medication and may require oral suctioning. She uses BiPAP overnight. Hannah is non-verbal but communicates her preferences clearly through expressions and head movements. She lives with her mum, brother and family pets in a fully adapted home suited to her needs.
Overview of role: At the start of shift Hannah is usually settled in bed, with her final medication at midnight. You will provide waking night care, ensuring her comfort and safety throughout the night. Duties include monitoring SATs and heart rate, repositioning, personal care, PEG feeds, medication administration and suctioning or oxygen if required. You will keep her equipment clean and tidy and complete light laundry linked to her care during quieter periods. A carer’s lounge with TV is available when Hannah is sleeping. Maintaining Hannah’s dignity, explaining tasks and offering gentle reassurance are essential. This role provides the opportunity to build a warm and meaningful connection while supporting her health and wellbeing.
Who this role would suit: A kind, calm and gentle *female Waking Night Carer who is reliable, attentive, organised and intuitive to Hannah’s needs. You will be confident with complex care, patient, and able to engage warmly with Hannah while maintaining professional boundaries.
