Women’s 1-1 Self Defence Coaching – Woodingdean
I’m considering offering affordable 1-1 women’s self defence training locally in Woodingdean.
A bit about me:
• 25 years of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu training• Brown belt with competition experience• Extensive experience teaching fundamental beginners sessions• Over 10 years running nightclub security teams• First-hand experience dealing with real-world violence, including large-scale fights and weapon incidents• Nearly 30 years working as a strength coach
This isn’t “martial arts cosplay” or fitness boxercise.
The focus is practical, pressure-tested self defence for real-world situations — especially for smaller people dealing with larger, aggressive opponents.
I also understand that some women may be dealing with trauma or PTSD following violent experiences or assault. Any training would be approached with patience, sensitivity, and at your own pace, with no pressure to do anything that feels overwhelming or unsafe. The priority is helping women rebuild confidence, feel more in control, and develop practical skills in a supportive environment.
Sessions would cover things like:
• Escapes from grabs and holds• Creating space and getting away safely• Situational awareness and confidence• Boundary setting and verbal de-escalation• Controlled/light sparring to build real reactions under pressure• Strength and body positioning for smaller women against larger men
My aim is to create a safe, supportive environment where women can build confidence and genuine practical skills at an affordable local rate.
If this is something you’d be interested in, or you know someone who might benefit, drop me a DM.
Take care Sam
