You would be directly involved in the restoration and maintenance of our fleet of Passenger Coaches, Brake Vans, Industrial Wagons and Tankers which is a major part of Ayrshire’s and Scottish heritage. We offer availability for male and female volunteers from 16-80 years old and are extremely keen to be expanding our team. No previous experience required, as we have a wide range of volunteers with different skills and backgrounds, some of which are: school leavers, college goers, Serving & Ex-Servicemen / Servicewomen from HM Forces, Engineers, tradesmen, Retired School Teachers, vehicle mechanics and other transport roles, however, ‘no experience’ is necessary to join us so come along and give it a shot! We offer secondary roles which are utilised on our open days such as: guardsmen/guardswomen, ticket inspectors, train dispatchers, Steam Locomotive Fireman, Steam Locomotive Drivers, Shunters, Diesel Locomotive Drivers, Cafe Staff, museum staff, model railway staff and a customer service team. All these positions you would and will be provided sufficient training but positions are limited to requirement. Training for secondary roles will be commencing in the near future so come on down whether it’s wind, rain, snow, hail or glorious sunshine and broaden your horizons and more importantly re-connect with a great group of people and make life long friends! Look forward to hearing from you!
