Description

What sort of room is it?
We have a large double room available in our unusually shaped Victorian end of terrace house. It's a large room on the ground floor, with east facing, double sash window, facing the morning sun and the tree lined street. The room has been recently re-painted. It has sanded floorboards and is part furnished with a pallet bed topped with a super comfy, king size mattress, a double sofa bed, desk and chest of drawers. We can add or remove furniture if that works for both you and the household.

And what sort of house?
Our colourful 6 bed house near the park is a really well-run communal house. Not the scary sort with strict rotas and rules but one based on sharing and enjoying living well together. The house has been a shared home for 27 years. We share food (rather than have 6 bottles of milk in the fridge), cooking for and with one another most days. There is a wood burning stove in the living room to enjoy and no telly to make life even better! The house has a many of its original Victorian features alongside the quirky and colourful additions from the last 27 years.

Who lives there?
You'd be joining three women and two men, aged from early twenties to mid thirties but you don't have to be in that age bracket by any means. We have various interests in art, science, woodwork, film making, cycling, photography, tea drinking, cooking, comedy, climbing, mending things, craft and cosy evenings around the fire.

Who are you?
You are interested in communal living. There is no need to be within our age bracket, just willing and able to be part of a shared home and contribute towards a happy and healthy home. Practical skills may well be an advantage (the landlord is exceptionally 'hands-off'), but they aren't necessary.

What about bills?
As well as the rent £166, we each pay £95 pcm (total £261) which covers all bills (but we're careful with gas use... a jumper makes sense in Winter) including council tax, water, broadband etc. It also covers a weekly organic veg box and occasional Suma order (dried and canned wholefood goods, cleaning products etc) so all in all, it's a pretty good deal. There is an easy system for making extra food purchases fair between each of us; the "German System", which is so easy and efficient that other shared houses copy and use it.

If this sounds like it's the right place for you, drop us an email.
