We get offered lots of 986 Boxsters to buy, and occasionally we get a call from an owner that really gets our attention. So when we got a call from a chap who said he'd had his Boxster 2.7 for 19 years, and was just the second owner, we were all ears!
X258EAX is just such a car, a fantastic early Boxster 2.7 first registered in October 2000 to a doctor, who had the registration X11MAH allocated to his Boxster to reflect his initials. The second owner bought the car in March 2003, had his private plate put on the car, and used it sparingly for almost two decades. Now showing just over 57,000 miles, it was serviced 6 times by Porsche Centre Cardiff up to 2016 and 52,484 miles, with one exception in 2014 when it had a Minor service at a local garage. Since 2016 it has seen little use as the owners have spent an increasing amount of time at their holiday home abroad, hence their decision to sell their beloved Boxster.
In superb original condition throughout, X258EAX is in classic Arctic Silver with Metropole Blue interior and hood. It has a fairly basic specification, with just leather seats, automatic air conditioning and 17" Twist spoke alloy wheels with coloured centre caps as options. It is all the better for it, with a delightful lightweight feel to the controls, good performance from the 220 bhp flat-six engine, precise steering and gearchange, and powerful brakes. The owner replaced the hood with an upgraded item fitted with a heated glass rear screen in 2011 when the original plastic screen failed.
We have prepared the car with a Major service, spark plugs, drive belt and brake fluid change, plus replacement of the exhaust fittings and new AC condensers. The front tyres were a little old (they don't really wear their front tyres much so they tend to harden with age rather than end up bald) so we have replaced these too.
