PAIR OF VINTAGE STILL LIFE PAINTINGS

Studies of blue vases, one depicting whirlpool vases designed by famous Czech glass maker Frantisek Vizner for Skrdlovice Glassworks around 1968.

This set is composed of two unframed pictures featuring studies of vases in shades of blue, water green, teal, beige and brown.

The first canvas shows 3 glass vases in blue shades on a brown background.
The other one portrays a slanted vase with geometric pattern and a blue shell, on a beige and chess geometric background.

Perfect for contemporary and modern interiors.

Each measures 41 cm (16 inches) in height, 31 cm (12 1/4 inches) in width and 3.5 cm (1 1/4 inches) in depth.

The paintings are original British signed artwork for home decor and interior design.

HISTORY BEHIND THE CZECH WHIRLPOOL VASES:
When Czechoslovakia was under Soviet rule, most art forms were banned. No painting, no sculpturing, etc was allowed. The only form that wasn’t curtailed was glassblowing. Thus these amazing artists, poured their ideas and focus into making wonderful glass art.

They are an interesting study in contrast, enjoying a similar colour palette in a dark and a light version, with opposite variants:
- a single contra-posed to a set of three items
- straight vases versus leaning one
- free-motion decoration on the vases opposed to more geometrical checkered pattern and a sea shell

The pictures benefit from the canvas being wrapped around the sides and feature a significant depth which gives them a three-dimensional feeling.
Thus they would exhibit beautifully without a frame.

Their dimension makes them easy to display and this artwork can be easily arranged:
- in a small wall area
- together with other paintings in a larger section
- as a feature work on a large background
- on the mantlepiece
- in a smaller room, such as the bathroom, a wardrobe room, in the entrance hall, a craft room, by a view window
