Urban Youth London is a unique and award winning youth charity providing services to young people aged 11 to 25 years old in London that empowers young people through activities, programmes and events that UNITE communities, EDUCATE on life skills, social issues and personal development, INSPIRE a generation of leaders and CREATE active citizens within the community, helping the next generation of citizens to aspire and be the best they can be. We also aim to CHALLENGE the negative stereotypes society can have of young people by promoting the good that young people can do.

The role requires close collaboration with the CEO and other Departments. The role is responsible for effective relationship management between Urban Youth and its potential funders, as well as maximising voluntary income for the charity through bid writing, researching funding opportunities, organising fundraising events and other fundraising activities. We are looking for a self-motivated, persuasive and confident individual who can help us secure a wide range of funding opportunities and build strong relationships with key stakeholders.

They will be able to manage a number of different responsibilities with various deadlines and to sustain relationships between departments within Urban Youth. The successful candidate will gain substantial leadership experience by working alongside the CEO and COO to develop Urban Youth and to ensure the charity delivers.

ROLE DESCRIPTION

Alongside the leadership team, to assist with the creation, development and implementation of a sustainable fundraising strategy to maximise income

Track external fundraising trends, using this information to assist with the development of strategy

To establish a diverse fundraising base to ensure Urban Youth can meet its objectives

Ensure fundraising activities are in line with Urban Youth’s core values and strategic goals

Work with the Youth Programmes Manager to create effective M&E systems to ensure that appropriate evidence can be gathered for future funding applications

Work with the Finance Manager to ensure that internal processes and procedures meet the terms and conditions of any contracts Urban Youth enters into

Work with the Comms & PR Manager to ensure that fundraising activities are adequately publicised

To provide written reports for the CEO/ Board as required

To ensure that Urban Youth’s policies and procedures in relation to fundraising are reviewed, updated and adhered to

Support the preparation of funding proposals/bids

SKILLS

EXPERIENCE

Experience of stakeholder management

Experience of writing and/or reviewing successful funding bids

Experience of organising fundraising events

Experience of working in a fundraising environment

Ability to work on own initiative and as part of a team; a self-starter

Passionate about supporting the development of young people

Ability to work under pressure and meet strict deadlines

Ability to think both creatively and pragmatically

ADDITIONAL EXPECTATIONS

In addition to their specific job role, Urban Youth Committee members are encouraged to pitch in where they can with volunteer interviews, training, or other PR events.

N.B Committee meetings will include travel to London

TIME COMMITMENT

The role is likely to require on average 8 hours per week – flexible

MEETINGS

Regular phone calls / face-to-face meetings with CEO and the rest of your team. Committee

members are expected to be able to check their email on a regular basis (at least once every

other day).
