For sale ultra-rare Piaggio Ape P601 LS, 218cc 2 stroke 4 speed (+ 4 reverse) manual with original 2900km (1800mls) from new!

This is one of a handful of Apes converted by Colombo Giuseppe in Milan (I), a company who built ladder trucks, cherry pickers, etc. in Italy who shut down few years ago, very few Apes were converted from new and is belived that less than 10 are left worldwide, I had never seen one before.
This particular Ape belonged to the council of a little village in southern Italy and was used for the maintenance of illuminations, traffic lights, etc., was then bought by a person who eventually stored it in a warehouse and it stood there until I bought it from his grandson last year in the province of Isernia, in the door pocket I found an old insurance coupon dated 1985, perhaps the last time that was on the road?
The Ape was never restored and is in fantastic original condition, obviously is a 44y.o. workhorse so expect minor age related marks and minimal surface rust spots, but no rot at all, and everything works as it should, of course after all these years unused, few jobs were carried out, brand new master cylinder and wheel cylinders and brakes overhauled, brand new clutch, new battery, new spark plug, new intake manifold, new mirrors, fuel tank flushed and rinsed and carburetor was cleaned, and of course an oil change, so is ready to drive and enjoy.
All lights and horn work and most of all the ladder, which extends up to 10mt. (33ft) and rotates 360°, and is all manual, the inclination is operated by a hydraulic piston, and the ladder extension is with a crank (like a window), still has the original wheels from the factory with plenty of thread left, even the seat is perfect with no rips or tears (very unusual for an Ape) sadly there are a couple of small cracks on the dashboard, but another one in good condition is included.
This Ape is extremely rare, even more than a Ape AB or a Pentarò, (hence the price) and should be in a museum or a nice collection but if you are brave enough to climb up there you could use it to work as well.
To find another 1981 Ape in this excellent condition and with such low mileage will be almost impossible, but there will be no chance to find one with a ladder, don't miss this once in a lifetime opportunity.
The Ape still has it's original Italian registration plate and comes with NOVA certificate ready to register with DVLA (which I could do for the buyer if needed) and some paperwork and the original owners manual, and of course due to the age is Mot and tax exempted.
