Are there any trombone or trumpet players out there who are no longer at work full time and/or younger musicians who are available to play during the day. Read on…
We are in urgent need of the above musicians who would be interested in depping initially and possibly joining the band on a regular basis.
The Earl Grey Band is a 15 strong 1940/50s style dance band/swing big band consisting mostly of seniors with a couple of younger members. We rate ourselves as good amateurs.
We are primarily a rehearsal band playing for our own entertainment, although we have done a number of gigs for local churches and community centres.
We play standards, dance tunes and big band arrangements from Miller and Basie to Sammy Nestico and Lennie Niehaus.
You should be a reasonably good reader but then again, we are quite forgiving.
We play at the Drive Methodist Church, Ilford IG1 3PP and meet once a week on a Tuesday from 11 am to 1 pm. There’s a small car park adjacent to the church.
We each make a small contribution to the hire of the venue.
