Description
This Reunion Blues Alto Sax case is something of a hybrid. It’s a practical, very well-made gig bag but it also has what they call a "shock absorbing Flexoskeleton." This is a band of reinforcement plates built into the body of the case that effectively form a lightweight, flexible hardshell construction that will protect your instrument and absorb the energy of a drop.
You'll see from the photographs that it has had a fair bit of use over the years but the scuffs and wear points just show that the reinforcements are in the right place. You could argue that it gives the case a bit of character? I've never had to test the 'Flexoskeleton', but you can feel that it would protect the instrument from damage in most day to day situations.
Over-all, it's clean and in very good used condition. The accessory pockets are roomy and it will still provide very good protection for your instrument. The only thing that has actually failed is the two main zipper pull-tabs. They are secured to the zippers by a thin metal stirrup and both failed within days of each other. I had a gig coming up, so I just fashioned the super stylish replacements that you can see in the photos, and they've worked fine. However, I have kept the original pull-tabs if you wanted to see if they can be repaired. It's possible that a jewellery-maker could solder or weld the broken stirrups.
This has been a really good Alto case and it will protect your instrument for many years to come. (NOTE: The instrument in the photos is not included in the sale).
