We have a fantastic new job opportunity for a CNC Turner & Programmer Machine Shop Manufacturing Engineer who has extensive CNC turning experience within a production environment or similar industry is required to join and be responsible for our CNC Department.

Working as the CNC Turner & Programmer Machine Shop Manufacturing Engineer you will carry out a wide range of assignments to improve the efficiency, quality and repeatability of the machining production areas.

As the CNC Turner & Programmer Machine Shop Manufacturing Engineer you will create supporting documentation and provide training to ensure successful implementation.

You will also support the achievement of daily business goals and drive long term technical and cost reduction projects, as well as assist with the manufacture of NPI jobs when required whilst providing technical support in troubleshooting production problems and efficient routings for the manufacturing areas.

Your duties and responsibilities as the CNC Turner & Programmer Machine Shop Manufacturing Engineer will include:

Main responsibility is the CNC department including second operations but also day to day support in the plating department

Use technical expertise to define, document and provide training for current best practice, ensuring cost effective, repeatable and high-quality practices are used for both existing production and New Product Introductions (NPI)

Provide leadership and drive forward a wide range of projects including cost reduction, process reliability, quality improvements, efficiency gains, capacity increases and capital investments in line with business KPI’s and strategy

Support production areas to achieve their KPI’s by attending daily meetings and providing technical solutions to challenges as they arise

Enable the smooth integration of new products into production by documenting tooling, work holding and gauging requirements in routings and specifications

Ensure costs are captures and calculated correctly by maintaining the integrity of routed times, work centres and costed batch sizes in SAP

Create efficient and effective CNC turning programmes for multi axis, multi spindle machines. Use this knowledge to define the parameters and process for other CNC programmers to follow and provide the appropriate checks and balances on their work to maintain standards

To work with the NPI team to deliver new to market products that are right first time and use best practice. To drive the appropriate level of mental effort in the early stages of projects to complete the APQP/PPAP process as required including but not limited to FMEA’s, process flows and design for manufacture

Work with and help roll out TE Operating Advantage (TEOA) requirements, roll out Centres of Excellence (COE) utilise Best Demonstrated Practices (BDP’s)

Keep well-informed of technical developments and review manufacturing methods

Observe and comply with Health and Safety regulations as laid down in company procedures and Government legislation


HNC or Degree in Mechanical or Production Engineering

Extensive practical knowledge of CNC turning gained through experience in a production environment of a related industry

The ability to programme, run and troubleshoot production problems on CNC Turning machines and second operation processes

Computer literate using Microsoft software

Previous experience maintaining an MRP system

Experience ensuring quality and lessons learned with flow diagrams, PFMEA’s, control plans and quality inspection plans

Identifies and recommends new or improved manufacturing processes and technical developments

Ability to use own initiative to ‘troubleshoot’ problems in Production areas as they arise using industry tools such as 5 why’s, fishbone diagrams and 8D reports

Continuous improvement involving Quick Change Over (SMED), 5S+1, Mistake Proofing and Standards of Work

Worked on large capital investment projects and delivered results

Drive and passion to deliver results in a fast-paced environment.

Ability to work on own initiative and be creative


Experience with SAP and Minitab

Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt or equivalent such as Red X

Tool and fixture design experience with SolidWorks, Creo or other design package

Project management skills when delivering projects

Experience with digital machine connectivity

Continuous improvement involving Material Replenishment and Flow and Cycle Wheels or Heijunka Boards
