First the good bits: full service history and drives and looks good for age. In August 2017 I spent £1,400 on a full service, MOT, new cambelt, new water filter, front brake pads, 2 new front tyres. Bodywork excellent except for small dent over rear wheel arch on driver’s side (see below for details) and interior very clean and in good condition. Slight bubbling of the alloy wheels.

The bad bits: the Diesel Particulate Filter. In November the DPF light came on. I added DPF filter cleaner to the fuel tank, but it had no effect. My local (trusted) mechanic ran basic diagnostics but couldn’t regenerate the filter, and thinks it could be an ECG glitch and only needs the filter to be cleaned and the ECG reset (as the warning light came on after a 3-hour motorway drive, so it should have regenerated itself).

So I took it to a Mazda main dealer for full diagnostics – the exhaust flow is reduced by 20% so they said a clean may give it another 10,000 miles, but it really needs a new filter – which is expensive. They said it would steadily get worse, but I’ve been driving it ever since and it still drives the same - it struggles a bit when going up hills and you can feel a slight reduction in power/acceleration.

Anyway, due to change of job, I no longer need an estate car, and I don’t want to spend any money on it hence, why I’m selling. I reckon it’s got several months of use in it, up to its next MOT anyway, so it’s a good buy for someone needing a cheap estate for a few months, a project for a Mazda fan or mechanic who can fit a new filter, or good source of spares (some nearly new).

I’ve got all the diagnostics paperwork for reference. As I said, it still drives well and still completely roadworthy. Shame to let it go to scrap – it’s a good drive and has a big boot.

One more bad point – it has a dent and scratch over the rear driver's side wheel arch, which I resprayed myself (poorly!) to prevent it rusting over the winter, as I planned to have it done professionally in the new year (see pics!). Spray can in matching colour included!

Any questions please ask. Viewings welcome by appointment.
