picturesque, medieval village situated in the Rusenski Lom National Park (protected area) 35 km s/w Ruse - the fifth biggest city in Bulgaria by the Danube bridge crossing to Romania.

Now a days Cherven is a soporific, carefree place to spend time, friendly, with around 200 inhabitants, one shop/bar, post office, library, and a daily bus to and from Ruse. The nearest main shopping town Dve Mogeli is a 20 minute drive away, and from Dve Mogeli to Veliko Tarnovo is about 1 hour.

The main attraction in Cherven is the 14th century citadel which brings tourists from the Danube cruises, Romania and all over Bulgaria, as does the neighbouring rock monasteries in Ivanovo and Basarbovo, nearby bat caves, fishing lakes, ornithological and archeological interests, and wineries.

At one time Cherven was the spiritual capital of Bulgaria, and this in itself creates a lot of outside mystery/intriege. The Lonely Planet guide once described it as a 'brutish Machu Picchu'!

4 times a day there are air conditioned busses (Pegasus, English speaking, book online) running from Ruse to Bucharest city centre and airport, taking 2.5 hours est. - 50 lev return.

Taxi from Cherven to Ruse - 30 lev.

Good internet connection with a choice of servers

There is no hidden agenda for leaving this property other than ventures new. It has been a life changing experience living here and an honour to learn the Bulgarian self sufficient way of life which which is slowly dying out.

This is a very traditional Bulgarian village - apart from a handful of expats the locals are pure generations of Chervenites...and proud of it!

If a swimming pool or paved area was a preferred option rather than the garden, there is an unused side road which could provide access for machinery.

The workshop could be turned into further guest accommodation.

The summer months see back packers, cyclists and bird enthusiasts etc but there is no hostel accommodation or campsite, only 2 guest houses.

Arable land sells for around €1000 a hectare.

€43,000 is the asking price
