We are advertising this on behalf of Sam, a friend of the business, who is also passionate about cars, and specifically MX5s. Please find his description below.
Hello and thank you for looking at my listing for my Mazda MX5.
This is my 8th Mk1 version of the car in approx 3 years - over my ownership of all cars I've become particularly au fait with the various points to look out for, and will likely cover the common aspects & flaws you're looking out for in the ad below.
This is the imported Eunos version of the 2 seater convertible, and was first registered in December 1992. It has the 1.6 115bhp engine with a limited slip differential.
This silver example is in particularly good condition - it's extremely rare to find a car with it's original arches (as noted by the original Mazda rivets on the underside of each rear arch) and no rust or rot eating away at the panels underneath - hopefully this is clear from the images in the ad.
The sills are in equally as good condition - as per the photos listed.
The car has been undersealed (as can be seen in picture 7) to further preserve the bodywork from the underside.
With the soft top hood up, you're able to poor water down the rear and see the water coming out from underneath the car, showing it's drain holes are clear and free - blockages are one of the main causes of rust starting.
For it's last MOT, the car had 3 new brake calipers (one front, two rear), it's handbrake adjusted to the correct spec, as well as new discs and pads all round - the old calipers were binding slightly, which is common with this version of the MX5. Rather than have them refurbished / rebuilt, I've simply bought new ones. It now has a fresh MOT with zero advisories until 13th June 2018.
It has 4 great specification tyres with copious amounts of tread left - at least 15-20,000 miles dependent on driving style - this should be clear from the pictures.
The original Daisy alloy wheels have been professionally refurbished and are in immaculate condition (no marks on any wheels), with all centre caps present too.
With such low miles at just under 68,000, the interior is still in great condition, with no rips, tears or marks on the tombstone seats - as you would expect.
The car comes with the Tonneau soft top cover, as pictured. The roof itself may well have been replaced in it's life, as it's in great condition with no rips, tears or leaks to mention.
In my ownership, I've had the following panels resprayed to bring the paintwork to a better standard:
Bootlid - faded paint
Drivers door - deep scratch approx 4", unable to polish out
Bonnet - faded paint
Rear number plate panel - faded paint
It's meant the car now looks far more presentable. The new owner may wish to have the front bumper resprayed as there's a scratch to the nearside corner. There are also a number of lighter scratches around the car as to be expected with an honest example of this age, including a scratch on the sill (pictured).
The car has adjustable dampers - I don't know the make of the shocks, however they are not coilovers. The shock struts are red with black springs - I couldn't tell you the make unfortunately as there's no visible stickers that I can see. The ride is just marginally lower than standard, and is comfortable & forgiving along normal roads. In the corners the car grips well with little body roll - on the whole an awesome balance between ride and handling.
If there's anything I've not answered, please just drop me a message. I have over 60 photos of the car I can send you of almost any angle, so can respond fairly quickly during the week.
I'm selling up as I bought a BMW M5 for my weekend toy around 5 months ago, and don't have the room at home - I have that, my daily car, and my wife's car too.
The car is located at SO43 7FP, in Minstead, Southampton, at Apsley Cars - please contact Alex, Apsley Cars Business Owner, anytime to arrange a viewing. Alex is a good friend of mine, and is simply helping with the sale. This means viewings can be held at almost anytime (day, evening or weekends) while I'm at work.
Payment to be made strictly via cash or bank transfer - Alex has my bank details if you're comfortable doing this, or I'm happy for him to take the cash on my behalf.
Between the two of us we can also arrange delivery too - please contact Alex for quotes to your door.
Thank you for reading the ad fully, I look forward to finding this car a new home!
