Very rare and fully functional Meridian Boothroyd Stuart MCD Pro CD player including the original manual and packaging. Owned by me since new.

Quite simply this product is a vintage classic and set the standard for top end CD players for many years.

They were used as reference machines by the top recording labels of the era. It was designed from and built upon the earlier and cheaper MERIDIAN MCD CD player - itself built upon a Philips chassis - and “added a number of new functions and improved the sound quality even further. The original MCD cost £675 and featured beefier power supply arrangements, a low jitter master clock, absolute phase switching, error signalling, and a reworked disc clamping system with a rubber mat to dampen vibrations. It was the absolute pinnacle of the first-generation Philips machines, demonstrating the platform’s inherent correctness.”

I also have available a Meridian MCD CD player which I acquired as a contingency spares source for this machine as many items such as controls, the laser and disc transport mechanism were common to both. See separate advert.
