Job Title: Laboratory Analyst

Job type: Contract

Location: Abingdon

Salary: 14.41 p/h

Working hours: 37.5 hours

Main Purpose of the Role:

This role requires the individual to undertake operations within the screening and confirmation teams. The analysis of drugs of abuse in biological samples is conducted by either immunoassay (CEDIA, HEIA and ELISA) or by confirmatory techniques (such as LC-MS/MS), or by a combination of both. Trainee Analysts/ Analysts must perform all analyses to appropriate health and safety standards, conform to current documented Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and must ensure that all analyses are conducted to the highest quality standards, whilst being completed in a timely manner.

Responsibilities:

Train in all screening and confirmation processes, as well as maintain relevant competencies to be able to perform all tasks within these areas.Extraction of drugs from oral fluid and hair samples (SPE/LLE) and associated processes such as setting up batches on instruments, checking sequences, storing and disposal of samples.Screening of oral fluid samples by CEDIA/HEIA/ELISA and preparation of daily screening quality controls and reagentsPreparation of laboratory solutionsSetting up of instruments and running system suitability checks (SSTs)Daily, weekly and monthly equipment checks and routine maintenance and completion of associated equipment recordsMaintaining safe and efficient working practices in the laboratory to ensure conformity to all relevant H&S and quality standards (ISO 17025) Requirements:

Science Graduate, or equivalent experienceUnderstanding of the panels of drugs analysed at the laboratory and the reasons for testing theseUnderstanding of the types of extraction methods utilized within the laboratoryUnderstanding the appropriate health and safety considerations for the laboratory1 years prior experience in a laboratory environmentPrevious experience with the requirements listed in Responsibilities If this is something that you would be interested in please apply with your updated CV and I will be happy to connect at your convenient time.
