Grounds Maintenance Engineer

Description

Marble Talent Group is seeking a Grounds Maintenance Engineer to work for our client on a permanant basis located in Tilbury, Essex.

* 40 hour week.

* Driving Licence - Required.

* DBS required.

Job Purpose

To maintain the grounds, gardens, and external areas to a high standard, ensuring they are safe, attractive, and functional for all users. The role involves a range of horticultural, landscaping, and maintenance tasks across sites managed by the organisation.

Key Responsibilities

* Carry out general grounds maintenance including grass cutting, hedge trimming, leaf clearing, strimming, and weeding.

* Maintain flowerbeds, shrubs, and planted areas through pruning, watering, feeding, and replanting as required.

* Operate and maintain horticultural machinery and tools safely and efficiently (e.g., mowers, blowers, trimmers).

* Undertake minor landscaping work such as turfing, edging, and soil preparation.

* Ensure all areas are kept clean and tidy, including litter picking and waste disposal.

* Carry out winter maintenance activities such as gritting and snow clearance.

* Report defects, hazards, or maintenance issues promptly to the Supervisor or Manager.

* Comply with all relevant Health & Safety procedures and risk assessments.

* Assist with event preparation or seasonal displays as required.

* Work effectively as part of a team and represent the organisation in a professional manner at all times.

Person Specification

Essential Criteria

* Experience in grounds maintenance, horticulture, or a similar role.

* Basic knowledge of plants, turf care, and seasonal maintenance routines.

* Ability to safely use and maintain powered tools and machinery.

* Good physical fitness and ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions.

* Awareness of Health & Safety and safe working practices.

* Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently or as part of a team.

* Full UK driving licence (if required for the role).

Desirable Criteria

* NVQ Level 2 (or equivalent) in Horticulture or Grounds Maintenance.

* PA1/PA6 pesticide application certificates.

* Experience working in a public or commercial environment (schools, parks, estates).

* Basic record keeping or reporting skills.

Working Conditions

* Outdoor, all-weather environment.

* Occasional early morning, weekend, or overtime work may be required.

* Use of protective clothing and safety equipment as necessary.
