Job Title: Biomedical Scientist Team Manager– Blood Sciences POCT

Location: Manchester

Salary: 47,810 – 54,710 per annum + 1,500 wellbeing allowance

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Biomedical Scientist Team Manager to join our small, friendly Point of Care Testing (POCT) team at The Christie Pathology Partnership. We proudly provide high–quality POCT services to The Christie NHS Foundation Trust, Europe's largest single–site cancer centre.

Our POCT repertoire includes blood gas analysers, glucose and ketone meters, Hemocue and Haemochron analysers.

The successful candidate will work closely with the POCT Lead and POCT Biomedical Scientist to maintain, develop, and enhance our services – ensuring excellence in patient care and leading the journey towards ISO15189:2022 accreditation

Responsibilities:

Coordinate and conduct POCT staff training and competency programsCoordinate validation/ verification and implementation of POCT processesDevelop QMS to achieve UKAS accreditationIncident reporting, investigation and preventative actionAssist in developing a POCT service within the communityImprove POCT infrastructure/ connectivityAttend POCT committee meetings/ network within hospital and communityPerform other essential job–related functionsTo manage day to day staffing, workflow and relevant training to ensure turnaround times and services are maintained for local KPI and clinical effectiveness.To assist in staff training and development including undertaking staff appraisal.To develop, prepare, write and review relevant documents, including SOPs.To deputise for POCT Lead when requiredAbout you:

Essential Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

HCPC State Registration as a Biomedical Scientist, with evidence of Continued Professional DevelopmentMSc/FIBMS by examination, and is currently in possession of Fellowship of the IBMS (Blood Sciences, Biochemistry, Haematology, Immunology or Transfusion Science; Cellular Pathology, Histology or Cytology or demonstrates equivalent experienceIBMS Specialist Diploma or an equivalent high level working knowledge of biomedical techniques and practices at post honours degree level.Expert interpretive and diagnostic skills.Knowledge of National guidelines and protocols relating to specific disciplineHigh degree of accuracy and numeracyGood knowledge of computer applications and LIMS including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access and Statistical PackagesExcellent problem solving skillsLeadership qualitiesKnowledge of Major Incident PlanDesirable Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
