Description

Would prefer a cash sale but might consider a trade for something interesting, of similar value and in nice condition.

This early '60s-style Stratocaster is a best-quality guitar that has been custom built using only genuine high end Fender or Fender-licensed components as described below. Although not assembled by Fender it rivals their best, at half the price.

The body is a '57/'62 Strat AVRI body bought from the Stratosphere USA in 2009. Originally in a relic state, it has been restored and refinished in Daphne Blue nitrocellulose.

The neck is a top-of-the-range Musikraft (licensed by Fender) 'Private Reserve' maple neck with AAA grade birdseye figuring along its entire length. It has a ’60s 'medium C' profile. The fingerboard is dark Brazilian rosewood with a 10” radius and 21 medium 6105 frets.

The headstock has been finished with Gotoh vintage-style tuners and period correct
“spaghetti” logo.

The nut is bone and has a width of 1&11/16ths inches.

The bridge is a Fender USA vintage bridge as used on Custom Shop guitars.

The pickups are Fender Pure Vintage '59s. Wiring is Formvar.

The pickguard is a Fender eleven hole three-ply aged white with a full ’62 shield.

All the electrics, hardware and plastics, on or off the pickguard, are genuine Fender parts: the pots, 5-way switch, tremolo, knobs, even the screws and strap buttons.

I bought this from a Fender devotee who has been playing, building and selling high-end custom Strats for nearly forty years. This was one of a select few very best quality ones that he had kept for himself until he recently needed to downsize radically. The quality, feel and sound of this guitar is outstanding.

It is lightweight (7lb 5oz) and in superb condition considering it’s a nitro finish. There are just two tiny visible marks on the body, a light scratch/mark from a strap near the back strap button and a light 5mm ding on the underside rear of the treble bout. I’ve shown them at their worst in close-up in the final two photographs but they are hardly noticeable in the flesh. Any other light patches are reflections, not imperfections. No case but I can throw in a basic guitar bag.

Thanks for looking and I’m happy to answer any questions or provide more pics. Inspection welcome if you’re a serious potential buyer – it’s better for you to hear it than for me to try to describe how it sounds. I'm only selling this (and others -
