Description

Hand built in Manchester when the Gordon Smith team was just John, Linda, Chris and two dogs (see YouTube: “Gordon Smith Guitars – Short Documentary”).

This is an all-original G-90; sometimes referred to as the GS-90 and more recently relaunched as the GS Guardian. It has been confirmed by the GS factory from their records as being made in October 1992. Now 25 years old it’s still in in great condition with no issues. The build quality and finish is excellent. It weighs just a little over 6lbs and is extremely comfortable strapped on. It has had a recent professional fret polish and full set-up.

The slimline (36mm) contoured body is made from nicely grained cedar with a natural transparent satin finish. It is well shaped with rounded edges, a belly cut and forearm contour. The shallow profile set neck has a ‘beak’ headstock and is also satin finished cedar. It has a rosewood fingerboard with pearloid dots. Scale length is 24.625”.

The Gordon Smith home-wound humbucker pickup can be coil split, with single-coil tones accessed via the push/pull volume pot. With a master tone control this guitar is versatile enough to handle anything from hard rock and punk to blues and jazz.

The bridge is Gordon Smith’s own design. It’s adjustable and incorporates a vibrato. The tuners are GS branded. The nut is brass as on all GS guitars. It doesn’t have a case but I can throw in a very basic guitar bag.

I bought this one out of curiosity, having read good things about Gordon Smith and liking the idea of buying British. I wasn’t disappointed and I’m only selling it, and a few more guitars (see my other ads), to help fund a big purchase.

Thanks for looking. I’m happy to answer any questions or provide more pics, or if you’re a serious potential buyer you’re welcome to come and try it, just message me. Cash on collection only.
