Guitar Lessons in Ealing and Acton

West London

One to one guitar lessons situated in the Ealing/Acton area of West London.
As an experienced guitar teacher who has worked for many years within the music industry, my lessons focus on 'modern' guitar playing 'styles' and 'techniques' relevant to this area.
Throughout my time as a musician I have acquired I wide range of skills associated with song writing, performing and recording, alongside those of teaching guitar. The skills and the knowledge I have gained working within the music business (running my own record labels) are part and parcel of my teaching style. I use the word ‘modern’ (in my title) in the sense that my approach focuses on rock, folk and pop etc, rather than conventional classical styles and aims to develop students not only as guitar players but writers and recording musicians also.
I have just completed a degree (as a mature student) in Music Technology at Kingston University which has furthered widened my skills in these areas.
My experience as a guitarist includes performing ‘live’ with various bands, releasing music (4 albums and countless singles) and recording several BBC Radio 1 Sessions, and I continue to record and release music digitally on my own record label.
My guitar teaching is particularly geared towards people of all ages who are new to the instrument and wish to learn as quickly and effectively as possible. Many modern styles are covered with an emphasis on teaching students the music ‘they’ enjoy. Although I do not teach traditional ‘classical’ technique obviously some ‘theory’ is covered with a focus on developing knowledge relevant to the modern player. My teaching experience includes lessons for students of all ages and within many styles including a lesson for the singer Lily Allen.
Learning an instrument can be a bit daunting and stressful for the beginner so I try to maintain and easy-going and relaxed atmosphere letting students develop at their own pace. Although I do not give a free first lesson I encourage people to come and visit (without charge) for a chat just to see if my style and approach is suitable to your needs.
I hope to hear from you soon! (Contact and price details below)
All the best
Simon (Horsefield)
Price per Hour: £25, although I am introducing a new regular 'monthly payment' rate which works out to £20 a lesson, this will be paid monthly in advance. There will be no refunds at the monthly rate however, although any lessons missed through illness or holidays will be re arranged as double lessons or at a new a new time and date free of charge. I find that regular lessons benefit a students' 'learning rate' and are also easier for me to teach, so I highly recommend the monthly rate.
Teaching is far better suited to my home environment (and equipment) but I may be able to travel to student’s houses depending on distance and area if necessary (I am in the Ealing/Acton area) an extra charge will apply, once again dependent on travel time and costs.
