Description

Loud and punchy Bass Combo. Very little usage since new. Fitted with light weight 300 watt Celestion Neodymium 12” speaker.

This bass combo has been my spare amp since bought in 2007 so has had little use. I have modified it to make it more practical and also to make it lighter to carry. (See later). I’m only selling it because I have amp head as a spare now and this is not being used.

Hartke’s own info about it:
The Hartke HyDrive 112c offers 250 watts of clean linear power. The power supply features a massive toroidial transformer and internal protection circuitry to help protect the amplifier and speaker. As a result, the 112c can handle virtually any passive or active bass.

On-board Hartke Shape Control and Bass Attack Overdrive allow you to control every aspect of your sound. From shaping highs and mids, to dialing up creamy distortion, the HyDrive 112c is right at home with any style of bass playing. Add a 7-band EQ and bass and treble shelving and you have the most versatile combo available.
The highest quality plywood is used to construct the HyDrive combo cabinets, which have the same extensive bracing and dado joinery found in the large HyDrive cabs. Vinyl covering, steel grill and steel corners provide added protection while moving the amp from gig to gig. And of course, the HyDrive 112c combo features the original Kickback™ design, allowing you to better project your sound while on stage. The result is an aesthetically modern combo with elegantly classic undertones.

Modifications:
Speaker: I changed the original Hartke 4 ohm speaker for an 8 ohm Celestion BN12-300X NEO Bass Guitar Speaker. This is very light weight and handles 300 watts.

Here’s what Celestion says about them:
Celestion's Green Label speakers are primed for high-powered rock performances, where a full-bodied, warm, defined tone is essential.
Not every player wants a super-clean, high-fidelity bass sound. Characterised by an extended low end and greater linear excursion, the latest Celestion Green Label BN12-300x NEO 12" bass guitar speakers push out every note with a rich, warm tone and a powerful low-end thump!
More punch and volume, with only half the weight of a standard magnet BL12-300.

Another reason for changing from a 4 ohm to an 8 ohm speaker is so that I could use 2 x 8 ohm cabinets with the amp or use this cabinet with another amp and another 8 ohm cabinet.

Splitting the amp and cabinet: This was done for a number of reasons:
1. The combo was very heavy 57.2lbs (26 kilos) so putting it into two units made transport easier.
2. It let me use the amp with other cabinets and the cabinet with other amps.
3. It let me use the cabinet as a passive 8 ohm stage monitor
4. It let me just take the amp section to a gig as a spare amp head.

The speaker cabinet was not compromised by the removal of the amplifier section plus, the amp can still be used as a combo as there are clips holding the two units together which allows the amp to “piggy back” and still tilt back.
