This is a fantastic opportunity to join my client, an innovative, industry-leading Multidisciplinary Consultancy looking to expand their geographical reach by establishing a brand new office location in Scotland. Renowned for lending their expertise to an array of exciting projects across the landscape architecture, planning, and civil engineering fields, they are seeking a driven, experienced Principal Civil Engineer with extensive knowledge of infrastructure design who is willing to take on a diverse array of challenging projects. You will lead a newly-established team of design professionals, based in the beautiful, historical Scottish Capital City of Edinburgh.

Responsibilities for the role of Principal Civil Engineer include:
Leading a number of exciting engineering developments in a design capacityManaging the day-to-day running of engineering projects, including aspects such as budgeting, resourcing, scheduling, and delivery/implementationProviding support and mentorship to colleagues throughout their careers, focusing on encouraging Continuing Professional Development (CPD)Managing clients and stakeholders across the public and private sectorsPreparing, checking, amending, and submitting various technical documents, including reports, specifications, drawings, calculations, risk assessments, and method statementsProactively enforcing company policies, procedures, and best practiceUpholding the appropriate health and safety standards at all timesContributing to the company's business development strategies, acting as a representative at client meetings, site visits, etc.
Required skills and experience for the role of Principal Civil Engineer include:
A Bachelor's Degree (or equivalent qualification) in Civil EngineeringHold Chartered Status with a relevant, recognised Professional BodyExtensive experience of working in a design capacity, within a UK-based consultancy settingConsiderable experience of working with infrastructure (particularly highways and drainage), housing developments, and energy projectsExperience of drainage network modelling and earthworks designProficient in the use of various software packages (to include Civils 3D, MicroDrainage, AutoCAD, and similar)Demonstrable experience of writing and amending a variety of reports for submissionPrior experience of leading both projects and people within the sectorConsiderable experience of managing client and stakeholder relationsOutstanding organisation, time management, team leadership, communication, and interpersonal skillsHold a full, valid UK driving licence
Desirable skills and experience for the role of Principal Civil Engineer include:
Hold a Master's Degree (or higher qualification) in Civil EngineeringPrior experience of authoring Flood Risk AssessmentsSome experience of preparing Transport AssessmentsExperience of working in a public-facing role
