Description

Job Summary

As an Engineer, this role is responsible for the reactive, preventative and planned repair and maintenance to all onsite plant. All these works must be conducted in a safe manner. This includes areas such as packing hall productions lines, dry & cold stores, site facilities including the cooling tower & production wastewater plant) and refrigeration equipment, ensuring safe efficient operation. Potentially working as the only engineer on a shift with full responsibly for the engineering elements onsite working along the Production Shift Supervisor.

Ensure there is a close working relationship with Production Shift Supervisors and Machine Operators

Motivate teams and individuals to improve line performance and improve production line reliability

Support Engineering and production team to deal proactively with issues.

Drive through continuous improvement, reducing waste and energy and improving plant uptime

Be proactive in helping operations find solution to problems.

Communication

Excellent communication on engineering matters to all departments.

Regular updates to shift managers on line performance issues.

Strategic

Support the delivery of factory KPI's

Ensure the Factory is working efficiently.

See opportunities for creative problem solving whilst staying within the parameters of good practice.

Analytical

Drive costs down wherever possible.

Make best use of available time and resources.

Implement and carry out planned and preventative maintenance.

Responsibilities & Expertise

Constantly strive to increase operational performance.

Optimize factory efficiency.

Maximize equipment uptime.

Production wastewater and cooling tower facility checks.

Compliance checks

Compliance

Develop methods to encourage continual attention to safe working practices.

Improve employee awareness of health, safety, and best practice.

Personally comply with all policies, procedures, and risk assessments relevant to role and responsibilities.

Qualifications and Experience

Approved UK engineering apprenticeship scheme

60:40 split electrical: mechanical experience

17 / 18th BS 7671 Electrical wiring regulations

5 Years Minimum experience in a similar multi skilled role

Fault finding experience on PLC's / Scada / Power & Control circuits / Pneumatics / Mechanical drive conveyor systems.

Computer literate (Word / Excel etc.)

MEWP/IPAF licences. (current)

Experience in food manufacturing packing /weighing and vertical sealers - highly desirable
