Description
Zenith People are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Conventional Machinist to join our precision engineering team. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience operating manual lathes, specifically Trencin TOS, Boysenberry, Colchester, and Laing machines. You will be responsible for producing high-quality components to tight tolerances, interpreting technical drawings, and ensuring all work meets strict quality and safety standards.
Key Responsibilities
Set up and operate manual lathes (Trencin TOS, Boysenberry, Colchester, Laing) to machine components from various materials (e.g., steel, aluminum, brass) Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and work instructions Perform precision turning, facing, threading, boring, and parting operations Conduct routine maintenance and cleaning of machines and tools Ensure workplace safety and adhere to company health and safety policies Collaborate with team members and supervisors to meet production deadlines Record job details, measurements, and quality checks accurately Qualifications & Skills
Proven experience as a manual/conventional machinist Proficiency in operating Trencin TOS, Boysenberry, Colchester, and Laing lathes Strong understanding of mechanical drawings and geometric tolerancing Excellent manual dexterity and attention to detail Ability to work independently and as part of a team Familiarity with metalworking materials and cutting tools Basic knowledge of machine maintenance and troubleshooting Education & Experience
Apprenticeship or NVQ Level 3 in Mechanical Engineering, Machining, or related field (preferred) Minimum 3 years of experience in a similar role
