PowaCycle Milan 2 electric bike in excellent working condition and with an uprated battery.

Description

This bike is of an older design but it has been little used, is good workhorse and is easy to ride - no complicated electronics, just On and Off.

Once the rider starts pedalling, the 200W motor in the rear wheel kicks in and helps propel the bike it at up to 15mph. It can be used without pedalling by operating the (standard) twist grip throttle, which is excellent in congested traffic, when accelerating away from traffic lights and for swiftly pulling out of junctions (no getting caught in the wrong gear).

If required, the throttle function can be disabled (so pedal assist only) using the switch on the left-hand handlebar and power to the motor is automatically cut when the rider either stops pedalling, releases the throttle or applies the brakes.

This bike has been fitted with a replacement battery which has a capacity roughly double that of the original 8Ah unit for which the manufacturer put the pedal-assisted range of 20 miles on flat roads. With the higher-capacity battery the bike easily handles more than 23 pedal-assisted miles over quite tough terrain around Epsom Downs and according to the handlebar-mounted display at the end of the ride, it was still almost half charged.

The manual driveline has six gears (selector on the right hand handlebar) allowing the rider to contribute power throughout the speed range. It is fitted with a rear carrier, side-stand, bell and chain guard plus front and rear mudguards and reflectors as well as reflectors in the wheel spokes. V-brakes front and rear provide ample stopping power and the brake levers are tapped to mount rear-view mirrors.

Its matching puncture-resistant Kenda tyres are probably original and have plenty of tread left and the cycle parts are good condition.

It has a low (46cm) step-through height the frame and the saddle height can be adjusted between 84cm to 100cm (fitting a non-suspended seat post would knock 3cm off the saddle height) and it and accommodates riders up to 110kg.

The ride is comfortable and relaxing ride on most road surfaces thanks to the 26 inch wheels smoothing out minor road defects, the suspended seat-post and a sprung saddle.

The frame serial number does not appear on the police register of stolen bikes.
