Description
For sale is a 1970s Japanese Melos Echoman Echo chamber tape echo unit a.k.a (poor man's Roland Space Echo) with x2 Apollon HD-5000 Hipac tape cartridges included.
I bought this a while ago from a guy and was told that the unit was worked fine but the cartridge provided was the issue according to a tech in Chingford who knows his way around these (what he was told anyway).
(Cartridge with the exposed screw on the front)
(Cartridge without exposed screw on the front)
I bought an excellent condition cartridge for a small fortune, nearly what I'm selling this whole unit for because he was a reputable guy on eBay who reconditions a lot these who sold it as fully working however as it didn't work with the unit indicates something is up with it and really was apprehensive to keep the good cartridge in and ruin the tape.
This is a project, I don't know what is wrong with the unit, can't visually see anything wrong with it, belt for the driver seems intact with no snaps and the preamp works, so you will get output from the unit.
If you know what you are doing with this you've got a bargain on your hands and these cartridges are rare as hens teeth and would imagine the one that comes with the unit should work if the echo unit has the issue.
Don't really know what else to tell you, not clued up on these but always wanted one and kinda just cutting my losses with it now as I can't be bothered paying to get it fixed with the amount l've already put into it. I'm basically just trying to get some money back but accepted I'm at a loss.
I'm based in Hertfordshire but can meet in London, Home Counties, on route to Gloucestershire or Birmingham or anywhere on route up to the Scotland Central belt
Postage is also an option if needed
Would rather cash but trades on sensible comparable valued items may also be considered, guitar speakers, amps, speaker cabinets, pedals, guitars etc
Any questions feel free to ask
Cheers, Nathan
