Wythenshawe Good Neighbours (WGN) Driver: fixed-term contract until 30/04/2026
Hours: *two vacancies at 12hrs each per week (over 2/3 days – agreed on a rota basis, Monday to Friday) / OR one vacancy at 18 hrs per week (over 3/4 days, Monday – Friday)
Salary: £12.60 per hour (we are a Living Wage Employer)

The role:
The Wythenshawe Good Neighbours Drivers Scheme is an affordable transport service operating across Wythenshawe for older Wythenshawe residents (50+) who are unable, or find it difficult, to use public transport. The (new) Driver role will help us to build capacity in the team and continue to grow the service.
The post holder will drive WGN Members to and from their agreed, pre-booked destination, and if required, support them at their appointment.
The post holder will also distribute WGN information, including our monthly Newsletter, ‘My resilience matters’ resource pack updates, cost-of-living information and any other relevant information, including from other organisations.
The Driver will work as part of the WGN team to grow the scheme.
Important information:
The applicant must be the owner/driver of a vehicle and be willing to use their own vehicle for this role.
The successful applicant will have a clean Driving Licence, ideally (or a maximum of three points) and be the named driver on appropriate insurance for that vehicle. Vehicle safety requirements and valid insurance must be in place. A DBS check is required for this role.
The post holder will receive 45p per mile when they are driving for the WGN Drivers Scheme, as reimbursement of the cost of petrol and to support the costs of maintaining their vehicle.
Main duties and responsibilities include:
To drive WGN Members to and from their agreed, pre-booked destination and, if required, support them at their appointment.
To distribute WGN information, including our monthly Newsletter, ‘My resilience matters’ pack updates, cost-of-living information, and any other relevant resources, including from other organisation.
To comply with Wythenshawe Good Neighbours’ operational policies and procedures when engaged in any project business.
To report regularly to the Project Manager.
To communicate effectively with people from diverse backgrounds.
To have an empathy with our target group of older Wythenshawe residents.
