Then this is the workshop for you!

Make clothes fit you just how you want...Perhaps fix up a dress for Xmas? Learn how to re-shape or lower necklines, lengthen/shorten skirts, dresses & trousers, adjust waist, bust or hips in or out, add darts for a flattering shape, change the sleeves...

Price: £85 - or £65 with Early Bird Saving - this option will be available when you book up to 1 month before course starts

Course date: Saturday 2nd December, 11am - 5.30pm (includes 1hr break)

Experience:  Improver, aged 16+. You need to have learnt to use a sewing machine and made a simple item only eg bag or cushion. You could learn to sew with us if you want to learn to use a sewing machine before starting this course.

Course Content:
Bring along your items of clothing that you would like to alter. As a group we will discuss each alteration and look at how the adjustment will be performed. As each student does their alteration the group will be invited to join in key demonstrations throughout the process so that everyone learned from everyone else's alterations as well as their own!:

Necklines - how to make a neckline higher or lower and the various methods available to you to do this

Darts help create a flattering shape and structure to our garments. Find out about different shape and length darts that can be added to a ready made garment to create a good fit for various garment areas and body shapes

Sleeves - from shortening, lengthening with an extra band, to taking the whole sleeve off and adding a new one you prefer!

Understand the importance of stay stitching and basting - and the difference between them!

Taking in and out at sides and shoulders to make the garment fit your unique shape
Anything else that's needed to make your garment fit you in the way you like that suits you and your style

Take home your samples for future reference in your sewing and dressmaking. You'll have online access to our full colour handouts to download and print at home if needed
