A Beautiful Antique Victorian Floor Tiles Flooring Reclaimed Salvaged apprx 5 m2

Kentish Town, London

£1,900

Description

On offer, a beautiful intricate salvaged antique Victorian tiled floor.

Salvaged from a house in Highbury, North London. The floor was hidden by carpet for the last 35 years (last photo).

The colours are rich and earthy, dominated by a terracotta red, a dark chocolate brown, a grey/brown tone, a shade of cream/biscuit, with accents of off-white, black and green in the central motiff.

The layered design is composed of a complex central Field Pattern (the star motif), followed by an Inner Border (the black line), a decorative border (the red and cream 'dogtooth' or diamond pattern), and an Outermost Border (the plain terracotta edge).

Size:
The complete floor measures approximately 4.88 m2 or 52.5 sqft
I say approximately as this doesn't take into consideration any grouting.

Please check the photos with the measuring tape, and also the recreated graphic plan.

Also I suspect these tiles have all been hand prepared and hand cut, so expect a slight variance between the tiles.

I imagine the configuration of the Field Pattern could be changed from a '4x4' design (as seen in the graphic) to fit your floor/hall.

Condition:
The tiles exhibit natural signs of wear and tear which are to be expected for a 120+ year old floor.
They are salvaged and have not been cleaned, and are a little dusty and grimy, with some displaying paint splatter marks or mortar residue (which came off easily with a craft knife) and so would benefit from a good clean.

The section that was quickly wiped clean for the photos came up beautifully, the tiles have a lovely patina to them.
