About the Client/Child: Josh is a cheerful 6-year-old living with his family in South West London. He sustained a Perinatal Hypoxic Brain Injury at birth and has Dystonic Cerebral Palsy and Epilepsy, resulting in complex medical needs.

He requires suctioning and receives all nutrition, fluids and medication via PEG. Josh communicates through facial expressions, body language and sounds. His nurse-led team (“Team Josh”) provides round-the-clock care and therapy support.

The Role at a Glance: This is an active waking night role providing continuous support. You will prepare overnight feeds, monitor Josh closely and remain nearby to respond to his needs.

Josh may sleep in short periods and can wake due to discomfort, secretions or seizures. You will provide reassurance and help him settle. Duties may also include organising equipment, managing medication and preparing for the next shift.

New starters complete initial day shifts to build rapport before moving to nights. Training is provided, but experience in PEG care, suctioning and seizure management is essential.

This Job Would Suit: An experienced, compassionate and resilient complex care worker who enjoys working within a team and can provide attentive, high-level care.

Why You’ll Love This Role: Josh is a lovely child, and you’ll be part of a dedicated, supportive care team with ongoing training and professional support.
