Description

2010 Renault Trafic 2.0 DCi Campervan.

The van: 8 year old SWB Trafic, 168k miles, FSH, 6 speed gearbox, useful tailgate model. Mechanically in great condition- covered 128k miles in its first 4.5 years. Full 1 year MoT. Drives great, no clunks or bumps. Since I bought it 3.5 years ago, it’s done 40k miles, including 3 trips to France and back, and lots of cycling/running trips away. Maintained fastidiously. New clutch and slave cylinder April 2017, full (£900) gearbox rebuild in June 2018, camchain changed (£600) in June 2017. Fully-working aircon, great for summer touring. Standard Trafic cabin interior (bluetooth FM stereo, electric windows), apart from a change of the drivers seat to a half-leather Mini one, and a Megane 3 leather wheel (original single-stage Trafic airbag has been installed in this.) LED DRLs installed. External grey plastics are black-tinted.

Work this year alone: new front strut top bearings, 3 new brake callipers, new pads and discs all round, 4 new tyres, new lower wishbones, entirely new handbrake cables, new PAS pump and alternator. Good for 36mpg around town, 42mpg on a run.

Camper conversion:
Everything was brand new 3 years ago. Fully stripped down, insulated, lined, boarded, carpeted, electrics faired in. 5 good-sized cupboards. All units are handbuilt in Vohringer Driftwood ply, patterned along a VW T5 side-conversion. Heavy duty and very durable, and still looks new.
10 litre cold fresh-water tank, connected to an electrically-driven tap. Stainless steel basin with powered tap and external drainage. Gas tank connected to dual piezo-fired hob burners (these cut out if no gas flow is detected). Both basin and hobs are covered with lift-up smoked glass covers, folded down these make a great food prep surface.
Water tank, gas tank, and 110Ah leisure battery are all contained within a lower cupboard, fitted with a floor-mounted gas vent. (An additional vent has been fitted internally and disguised with a ‘fake’ window/glass panel.) 12v leisure electrics are driven off the 110Ah leisure battery, charged from either a Durite voltage-sensing relay connected to the main battery, or the rear externally-mounted 240v on-site electrical hookup. All 12v electrics are routed through a vertical PMS3 distribution unit, which charges both leisure and vehicle battery when hooked up. 2 x 240v outlets are available when hooked up. The drivers cabin has dual USB chargers, and a handy battery-meter which shows both the main and leisure battery charge.
A Waeco 12v fridge is fitted. Handy for chilling beers on the way to your destination…..
For all-condition trips, the van is fitted with an Eberspacher diesel heater, which is excellent for colder days. Its up to full operating temp in just over 2 mins. Also doubles as a cold (external) air blower for cooling the back in warmer weather. The controller is simple to operate, and the system uses tiny amounts of fuel when up to temp.
It also has an Austops pop-top roof with roof bed, front window and side vents, all with zip covers. The roof is fully insulated and carpeted underneath. I’ve fitted a standard full-length awning rail underneath the roof, so that its concealed when the roof is fully down.
The floor is covered in grey Altro flooring, very hard wearing, in great condition after 3 years of use. A Kiravans rotating Captain’s seat base is fitted to the dual-person passengers seat. A carbon monoxide detector is installed, powered from the leisure battery. Dual USB chargers are installed in the rear, which can be used from the 12v system- handy for rear passengers to use while driving. Full crash-tested (not just pull tested) *expensive* JAC Campers memory foam rock and roll bed, with integrated seat belts, all correctly and safely installed with the correct spreader plates beneath. Super comfy, very high quality bed thats as good as most domestic beds/mattresses.
Sliding camper windows on left and right, with slide-back thermal curtains on integrated rails. 12v LED lighting units with a handheld radio controller. It also has a fitted tow-bar with working 7 pin electrics.
Comes with a clip-on table colour-coordinated to the worktops, and a separate (larger) camping table. The rear tailgate has a bolted-in Fiamma bike carrier. Also comes with a high-quality Rainbow Screens external thermal windscreen/side window cover.

The van has an obvious and very distinctive yellow/black colourscheme which makes losing it in carparks etc virtually impossible :)
Only selling as its become a bit too small for us- this has been my daily driver, ad-hoc camp bus, throw-the-bikes-on-the-back-and-lets-go bus, and is amazing for just turning up at places and having fun. You deserve this in your life.
