Description

Revolution Country Explorer
Fully serviced, new cables and cassette. This bike is no longer required but the space it is taking up is. There is some wear and tear to the paintwork on the frame as would be expected but there is no damage and no rust. The frame is true and has not been crashed.

Full details, including Edinburgh Bicycle’s original description can be found below

With the Country Explorer we followed two divergent paths to create a better touring bike. First we went back to our touring bike roots by specifying a Reynolds double butted steel frame. With its thinner-wall narrower-diameter tubes the steel frame rewards the cyclist with a more lively, Iight sprung, comfortable and engaging ride.

We matched this old-school frame with the best new-school cycling technology. We equipped it with disc brakes. And why not? If you have become used to the low-maintenance efficiency of disc brakes on your MTB, you'll look upon cantilever brakes as a bit like Spandau Ballet - an unwelcome throwback to the 1980s.
Disc brakes make perfect sense on a touring bike. Moving the brakes from the mud and rain-attracting wheel rims to the relatively clean hubs makes for an improvement in the brakes' all-weather all-conditions performance.
Disc brake pads are much harder so they last much longer. So do the rims now that they are no longer being worn down by the brake pads. For the Revolution Country Explorer we opted for Tektro Lyra mechanical disc brakes which roll on ball bearings to ensure smooth engagement and release. Being brake cable operated (same as cantilever brakes) mechanical disc brakes are less daunting for most home mechanics to deal with than hydraulic disc brakes.

• The frame's compact geometry resists flex, even when the bike is heavily laden with panniers.
• The compact geometry also lowers the bike's centre of gravity and contributes to the Revolution Country's stable feel- perfect for long days out on the road.
• Both frame and fork boast a full complement of bosses and eyelets for fitting mudguards and racks (front and rear).
• Full chromoplastic mudguards and alloy rear rack come fitted.
• Continental 700 x 32 Sport Contact Tyres boast a perfect blend of speed and stability.
• The tyres are fitted to good reliable wheels built with Revolution Touring double-wall machined rims.
• Campagnolo Mirage Dual Control shifters (3 x 9-speed)
This allows you to change gear without taking your hands off the brake hoods, hence no loss of control or momentum. When changing gear is this simple, it becomes as unconscious as taking breath. And when changing gear becomes no big deal, you're more likely to ride in the right one.
• As an alternative to squeezing the brake levers from the handlebar drops, you can apply the brakes with your hands on the bar tops via the Tektro 'frog leg' cross levers. Unlike the cheapo 'safety levers' (sometimes called 'suicide levers') found on most drop bar bikes of the '70s and '80s, Tektro bar-top levers really do work without compromising braking efficiency.
• Wide (44cm) Kalloy alloy 31.8mm-centre bars help 'open out your breathing' and enhance comfort.
• These bars are wrapped in comfy shock-damping gel-cushioned gel cork tape.
