Giant XTC A1 Alliance carbon & aluminium mountain bike.

Giant XTC Alliance 1 carbon-alloy composite design frame with strong stiff aluminium chainstays and bottom bracket and forgiving carbon fibre seat stays, top tube and upper seat tube to dampen vibration. It’s a very nicely spec’d lightweight hardtail. Frame is a men’s medium and would suit a rider between 5’7” - 5’10”.

Fork: RockShox Recon with lockout
Brakes: Avid Juicy 3 Hydraulic Disc, 160mm rotors
Wheels: Mavic XM117 26” rims, Shimano Deore hubs
Drivetrain: Shimano LX 27 speed RapidFire Plus shifters, XT Shadow rear mech
Cranks: RaceFace Ride XC X-Type 22/32/44
Tyres: Kenda Small Block Eight
Finishing Kit: All Giant branded, Stem A3, Bars and Seatpost A5
Pedals: Shimano SPD (not shown on pics)
Saddle: Silverado WTB

Overall condition is fantastic as it has genuinely had very little use, within a couple of weeks of buying it I decided to switch to a road bike (realising it suited my needs better) and consequently didn’t use the Giant much after that. If I were to guess I’d be very surprised if I had covered more that 200-250 miles on it from new.

As you can see from the photos the condition really is excellent with much of the bike showing very little signs of use, in particular the chain and cassette still look really clean which is a sign it has done very limited mileage. However, there’s a few signs of use on the main chain ring, a scrape or chain rub to the frame just behind the outer chain ring where the chain must have come off when riding, the forks have a few marks to the graphics on them - mainly from storage - and there’s a few very light scratches to the top clear coat of paint in places but other than that it’s all very clean and tidy. Only other thing I’ve noticed is the Avid Juicy 3 brake levers look like they’ve had a small amount of brake fluid leak around the bleed port on the top of the levers. Having not used the bike for a few years I’d suggest giving it a quick service just to make sure everything is running smoothly, the gears seem to be indexed and changing well but the brakes feel like they could do with adjusting as they’re holding the rotors very slightly but a couple of rides could clear this.

The photos don’t show any pedals on the bike as I had removed them to use on another bike but I’ll put the original Shimano SPD (think the model number is PD-M520) back on the bike. The pedals have had more use than the rest of the bike but are still in good condition and will come with plastic flat pedal inserts to allow the pedal to be used as an SPD pedal on one side and a normal flat pedal on the other if you want to ride in normal shoes.
