Wage/Salary: £19.23 gross per hour. £36,000 gross per annum for 36 hours a week.

Essential: *Female applicants only. Experience working within a family home. Experience of supporting a child with a physical disability and manual handling. Non-smoker/Vaper.

Start Date: As soon as possible but willing to wait for the right person.

Days & Hours: Up to 36 hours per week. Days and times are very flexible for the right applicant.

About this client/child:

Eddie (11) lives with his Mum and Dad in a beautiful part of Hampshire near the New Forest. Eddie has a charming and gentle character. He loves listening to his support worker chat to him throughout his daily routines, sensory activities, and story times. Eddie likes exploring the New Forest and being outside in nature. He has De Novo Mutation in GABRB3, Smith-Magenis-Syndrome and has severe epilepsy, which can lead to many seizures throughout the day and night. Eddie uses a wheelchair and has his feed, fluids and medication given via a Gastrostomy. Due to poor bone density Eddie is very fragile. Eye Gaze assists him to communicate.

Overview of role:

Eddie is looking for two more confident, creative, and caring *female support workers to complete his team, who provide full time 1:1 support throughout the day. Support workers who can help bring immersive and creative experiences to Eddie, such as music, messy play, puppetry, theatre, reading and crafts. Eddie has all the tools and equipment in his dayroom to provide this fun way of learning; he just needs a very gentle and proactive support worker to help him to explore it all. As well as creative play, walks in nature and other activities to stimulate and comfort Eddie, he requires full support with his therapies, feeding via a Gastrostomy and personal care. The family can be very flexible regarding hours and days, and up to 36 hours a week are available. The annual salary is £36,000.00 gross per annum based on a 36-hour week. 4 weeks paid holiday a year are included, as are pension contributions.

This position would suit gentle, creative, and caring *female support workers who have previous experience of working within a family setting and enjoys helping to care for others in a calm and gentle way. Eddie’s beautiful home has been created to provide a calm and tranquil environment and he would like his support workers to work in harmony with this. Eddie is looking for carers to make a long-term commitment within his team, and provide great communication skills, be trusting and adaptable.
