About this child/client: Ben is 7 and loves bouncing on his trampoline, climbing trees, playing with sand, and being in the rain! He is interested in numbers and letters and enjoys jigsaw puzzles when in the mood. He loves playgrounds, swimming, and trips to Costa for a biscuit and Zizzi for pizza. Diagnosed with Autistic Spectrum Condition (ASC), Global Development Delay, and non-verbal, Ben uses an iPad-based AAC communication device and will need continued support to develop his skills. He can feel overwhelmed when there’s too much talking or engagement. During dysregulation, he may bang his head or bite his wrists to express overstimulation. A calm, structured environment helps him feel at ease. Ben requires support with all personal care, including toileting, bathing, dressing, brushing teeth, and eating.

Overview of role: This role requires a dedicated SEN Nanny/Manny to support Ben’s learning and development. You’ll begin by shadowing his parents to build trust. Ben requires close supervision as he may attempt to climb fences or run off in parks and enjoys sensory feedback from smashing glasses/mugs, so these items must be kept out of reach. Duties include school pick-ups, outdoor play, and visits to SEN-friendly soft play during term time, with swimming and outings in holidays. The family is seeking a long-term commitment to provide consistency in Ben’s progress. In future, the Nanny/Manny may provide occasional proxy parenting, babysitting, and accompany the family on their annual UK holiday. A live-in option is available if preferred.

Who this role would suit: You will be calm, confident, energetic, and physically fit, enjoying active play such as bouncing on the trampoline with Ben. With a compassionate and proactive approach, you’ll support Ben through moments of dysregulation effectively and sensitively, giving him space when needed. This role is ideal for someone seeking a long-term position with a lovely, supportive family.

What’s great about this job: Ben and his family are a pleasure to work with. They are approachable, value teamwork, and create a supportive, fulfilling work environment. Training will be provided by Ben’s speech therapist to support AAC device use.
