Genuine antique map of Kent by John Rocque dated 1750’s-framed and glazed.
An attractive genuine eighteenth-century map of Kent. It’s from a series originally published under the title "The English Traveller" by Thomas Read between 1743 and 1746. This is a copy of the map revised by the surveyor John Rocque (fl.1734-1762) for his "Small English Atlas" in 1753 and this map dates from the 1750’s. Decorated with a compass rose and a small view of Dover Castle.
The map is a copper line engraving on paper and has been hand colour. Overall size 10 ¾ x 9 ½ inches. Map area approx. 8 x 6 ½ inches. . In excellent clean condition. Professionally framed and glazed.
