A striking Jacquard tapestry set woven in a fine textured weave, inspired by The Lady and the Unicorn, one of the most celebrated surviving tapestry series from the medieval period. The originals, now displayed in the Cluny Museum, Paris, date from around 1470 and are attributed to Williem de Pannemaker, designed for Jean Le Viste of Lyon, who served under Charles VIII.

This set features the iconic Lion and Unicorn, each supporting their heraldic standard. The background displays the traditional “mille fleur” (thousand flowers) pattern scattered with violets, primroses, daisies, harebells, and periwinkles a hallmark of medieval artistry and symbolism.

The Unicorn was fabled for its beauty, agility, and virtue. Legend tells that only virgins could see it, and its horn was said to possess the power to counteract poison — a prized safeguard of kings and noblemen in the Middle Ages.
